Task 3 – Graphic Types

PIXEL ART
Pixel art is a form of digital which is created through the use of raster graphics software, where images are edited on the pixel level. Pixel art is mostly found in the graphics of old computers, graphing calculator and mobile games. Pixel art was famous for being used in classic retro games like super mario, sonic donkey kong etc. Pixel art is still popular till this day. Pixel art consists of many blocks to create the desired shapes and colors.

CONCEPT ART
Concept art is when you come up with ideas as to what the character or game asset will look. You have to come up with as many ideas when doing concept art so that when it's time to  choose for what the final product will look like you'll have many options to choose from and that is the objective of concept art. Concept art is just like a template even though that particular concept is chosen it does not mean is not what the final look will be, in the process of creating the concept as a template you can still change a lot of content but the final look will be somewhat similar to the concept art.

TEXTURE ART
Texture is when you have to paint surface textures onto characters, items and environments like mountains and buildings, the textures available for use are endless it could include having to paint things like sweat, fur, wrinkles and mud. in some cases like making fantastical textures used in animation can't be found in real life. This means that in cases like these the artist creates their own texture using their imagination and creativity.

BACKGROUND GRAPHICS
Background graphics is when you create graphics for a background. The background usually tells a story itself and allows you to identify where the character stands in, like for example if the story was based on a city like paris then you would know right away because it's showing the eiffel tower on the background as part of the background graphics, it doesn't always have to be based on real world environments like the image below, it shows the character in third person perspective and is facing an incoming dragon and the environment shows snow covered trees and a huge clouded mountain looking at it's obviously fictional but there are many places in the real world where it can be based on like the alps.

PRINT MEDIA ART
Print media art is a type of digital art because it is created through software and then printed out as either a poster, a game cover, a magazine etc. For game covers it is important that it depicts what the game is about so it is important that it relates to the game and use colors relevant to the theme and mood of the game. The image below is the game cover of a game called tekken 6, as you can see looking at front cover it looks very intense and quite violent because of the character in the middle staring right at you but the font and the fire in the background adds even more intensity in to it also at first glance you wouldn't really be able to tell that it's a fighting arena type of game but games of this genre usually show you what the game is actually about in the back cover as you can see on the image below. Another thing to look out for is of course the age rating which you will usually see on the bottom let of the front cover and it says 16 on the image below which is also one way you can tell if the game includes violence and/or sexual content which could.
