Task 01 - Schedule

Task 02 – Game Evaluation

To start with the genre of Mekka Hornet is a top down shooter game with added retro arcade gaming effects or art style.

It starts with the name of the game with a gradient hornet behind it on a red gradient background and instructions on which key does what. When you go in the game you play as a hornet and you have to defeat other mechanized insects along the way, The first mechanic insect that you encounter is a fly and they only take a couple of hits to defeat however these units come in fast but slightly stop when your in their firing range and fire 2 bullets towards your location and then throw themselves into you and it only takes of them crash into you for your health to get to zero if you dodge them they'll just disappear from the page, note that you can also crash into them instead of them homing towards you.

The second enemy unit you will encounter are tower based meaning that while they stay in one place they will launch homing attacks at you, although they do small damage individually if about ten of them hits these units will slowly eat at your HP. Because the theme of the game is based on insects the homing attacks are either maggots or leeches and the tower based units that launch the attacks seem to be a hive. The homing maggots will self destruct soon after a few seconds and will not do any damage to you

When i first played the game i thought that the colors were a little bit dull in terms of the mechanics i thought that it lacked precision so i found it a bit hard to maneuver the character from left to right and also i thought that the bullets moved towards the character a bit too quick.
The third enemy units are seem to be giant wasps that will appear out of nowhere once the previous enemy units can't be seen from the screen once they appear it will indicate a new level and your weapon or fire power will increase or evolve automatically, these units will move forward while shooting at you and they take about 10 bullets to take them down.

The next enemy is the boss unit. In the beginning of the boss level the boss will appear three pocket looking things on it's back, the boss will immediately launch homing attacks at you that are destroyaable like the maggots, these pockets will close after it's finished launching it's attack and will launch a different attack which are the standard bullets. The pockets on it's back will open again and launch another attack, the only way to defeat the boss it to destroy the pockets on it's back while they are open and you can only destroy one at a time.

Task 06 – Vector Production

first i drew a concept for what my boss will look like, as you can see i only drew one of the wings because i thought that i would be able to draw one half and copy it then paste it on to the other side and that is exactly what i did.

Once i had finished drawing the concept art i scanned it into Adobe Illustrator and started tracing it with the pen tool and i started with the head area after that i moved onto the core in the middle and then onto the wing, i traced it just like the others but i didn't feel like doing the other wing because it was time consuming so what i did was select all of the traces i had done for the wing area and then i copied it, then pasted it and then rotated it so that it would look the same and symmetrical to the side. I created a layer for each of the traces i had made.

When it was time to color it i started with the head area and slowly started moving onto the details of it which i did one by one.

After i was done coloring the head area i went onto the wings and used the same color scheme to match the head area and once i finished that i then moved onto the other wing which i repeated the process for the other parts like the core and the rear one by one.

For my player asset i repeated the same process as i did with the boss template, the only difference is that the template i used for this was taken from the internet. I first traced the head area then moved onto the body part then the wings and then lastly onto the rocket engine, to make it look a little more original i ignored the part on the rear.

For this design i had to draw it on aerial view so that it would go with the concept of the game which is a bullet hell type of game. First i drew the aerial version of the fighting jet i saw online then when i finished drawing it i scanned it in using a scanner so that i could turn it into an image and insert into Adobe Illustrator so that i could trace it so then i'd be able to use it for my t-shirt designs.

Task 07 – Vector Presentation

T-shirt 1

For my first T-shirt design i started with template that was provided in Moodle. The first thing i did was insert a vector image which in this case my type logo into a mask layout so that if i ever enlarge and image or if it's longer than the t-shirt template it won't leak out of the t-shirt template meaning that anything that goes past the outline of the t-shirt it will crop it out, it won't cut it it just doesn't overlap the t-shirt outline.

once i was done with the masking i started thinking of what the colour of my shirt could be and i went with a darker version of what the base of my type logo is.

And this is what the finished product looks like, For the collar i just went with black and left the visible inside part as it was.

T-shirt 2

For my second t-shirt design i stayed on the same template as the first one because it already had the masking settings done so i just deleted the contents of the first one except for the type logo.
In this one i kept the type logo but changed it's color because for this design i was thinking of showcasing the boss or the enemy mothership but because i was going to showcase an enemy unit especially the boss i just changed the color of the type logo in the same color scheme as the boss, once i finished doing that went onto thinking what color the t-shirt will be so i went with black because the color black usually means evil and if i am showcasing the boss it will go perfectly and it would also show the colors of the boss unit better. For the collar i stuck with the color scheme but in this design i colored the outline of the shirt in gold which is also part of the boss unit's color scheme

To finish it up i just inserted in the boss unit design that i created through illustrator and just made it bigger and as you can see because of the masking layout setting i can just make it as big as i want it and it won't leak out of the t-shirt template.
And this is the finished product.

T-shirt 3

For my third t-shirt design i stayed on the same template as i did with my second design. for this design i didn't change much, i first started by putting outline and the t-shirt colour back to normal, next i made the boss unit's design smaller so that the wings would become visible. Now for the t-shirt color i wanted to go with something different so i experimented and i found the gradient settings which has color designs and patterns you can use, and so i went with a design that seems like it was glowing in the middle but as you get further from the centre the colors get darker this also known as the ombre effect. The colors of the effect wasn't what i wanted it to be so i changed it so that it goes with the color scheme of the boss unit.

And this is what the finished product looks like.

T-shirt 4

For my fourth i went back to my first t-shirt design but this time i decided to showcase my main character in which is a fighting jet. So the first thing i did was insert my character design in and decide as to what size i wanted it to be so i just went with the size that allow it to fit on the chest area after i had placed it on the area i desired i then enlarged my type logo to put on top of my character design but not too big cover it all just enough to cover the body part of the fighting jet and to finish up i just colored the collar and the inside part that's visible black along with the outline of the t-shirt, one thing i forgot to change was that the outline of the collar was still gold.

This is the finished product of my fourth design.

T-shirt 5

For my last t-shirt design i just enlarged the main character as you can see on the image above but i shrunk the type logo so the it just fits in between the rocket boosters.

This is what the finished product looks like.
